WHO WE ARE
The GothamBaby.com parents’ network is a group of 450+ New York City families. The network is dedicated to supporting parents, exchanging information about the daily exigencies of life in New York City and vicinity, and providing a way for people to connect and find playgroups. Our goal is to create a an open and down-to-earth venue, and to facilitate people connecting with each other. Both mothers and fathers are welcome to join. Parents use the network to set up playgroups, ask parenting questions, share experiences, and find out about neighborhood resources. Expectant/pregnant and new moms and dads are of course welcome.

AMAZING BABY NURSE!!!!

I have had a superb baby nurse, Joanne, for the past 3 weeks. I am a first time parent, who knew nothing about caring for a newborn (other than what you read in a book) prior to Joanne joining the family. She is beyond helpful and the most understanding person. She knows everything about caring for a newborn and beyond. She took care of all of our daughter's needs, while at the same time, she taught my husband and I how to care for our daughter upon Joanne leaving us. She taught us the appropriate way to bathe our daughter, change her diaper, and just so much more. She took care of our daughter's room and taught me the appropriate way to do her laundry. In addition, Joanne put our daughter on a schedule so that when she left, our daughter only woke up one time during the night.

Great Nanny Available

Our nanny Lisa is currently available. She was with us for three years before we moved to Riverdale. We were sad to lose her and hope to find a great new family for her. Lisa started when our son was 6 months old and has always been kind, patient and loving. As a work at home mother, I often see and hear her interactions giving me the opportunity to be able to say without a doubt that she treats our son well and he likes her very much. She is polite, quiet and easy to be around and is always willing to handle things (i.e. discipline, enrichment, scheduling) as we choose. My son still enjoys playing with her when she comes to visit. She is kind to our pets (always making sure I remember to feed them J) and helpful to my grandmother when she comes to stay.

HELP!!! 1 week to prepare

It's a loooong story but my boyfriend and I are about to have his 2 month old son come live with us in NYC. We are VERY excited and think he is a blessing but we are also very scared. We have about 1 week to prepare so we will be learning as we go along. We have already visited him on two separate occasions so we have some idea of his current schedule etc..but would love to hear any tips/advice from nyc parents on getting around in taxis, nannies, classes, strollers, anything really. Thank you!!!! PS- We live in the west village in a small 1 br so creating a sleep space for him is a big challenge right now. Any preferences in bassinets/baby beds?

Looking to meet some new moms in downtown NYC

My husband and I just had our first baby 2 weeks ago and I am looking to connect with new moms like myself. We live in Greenwich Village on Astor Place and I am looking to meet someone close by for walks, coffee, shopping, and conversation. My husband does not want me to get into a cab with our son but we do have a car- just seems like so much of a hassle to take out of the garage to visit one of the new mom groups that seem to be only on the Upper East Side. Charity Art Auction Features Andy Warhol and More!

(New York, NY -- August 22, 2008) The Children’s Museum of the Arts’ fourth annual art auction and exhibition titled “Change of Art: Past, Present, Future” will include donations from artists including Andy Warhol, David Salle, Sol LeWitt, Kenneth Noland, Hunt Slonem, Paula Scher, Bill Jacklin and Olaf Breuning. The charitable event to support art education will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Phillips de Pury & Company, 450 West 15th Street in New York City’s Chelsea art district. All proceeds from this art auction directly support CMA’s arts educational outreach in the community to bring quality arts programming to ALL children and their families regardless of social and economic status.
