I found a cd of classical Indian lullabies by an artist names Bombay Jayashri that is just about the most beautiful and soothing album I've ever heard. These are true lullabies that will either lull you to sleep or put anyone in a meditative, sleep-like state. Her voice is just beautiful. It's hard to find the actual cd, but you can download it from MSN music for $10.
Of all the kids' I've heard, Billy B's environmental music is my favorite, and my sons' favorite, too. We have been listening to his album "Biodiversity" non-stop for the last six months, seriously, and we all still love it (me, too, which is saying a lot). It's all about nature and the green belt and the rain forest and recycling, but it's not sanctimonious, it's just really enjoyable to listen to. My six year old son is obsessed with it (there are some rock n roll songs, which hooked him), and we have conversations constantly about what things like estuaries and epiphytes and arthropods are. My 20-month old daughter loves it too, and makes requests (She actually says "Species" and "bio" [for biodiversity]). I think it might be sophisticated for her age, but she has been worn down by my son's love for the music.
You can look at his website - www.billybproductions.com. His song about cicadas is hilarious.
Wonderful, wonderful music. Folky. Listen on Amazon. I own four of his albums.
