Charity Art Auction Features Andy Warhol and More!

(New York, NY -- August 22, 2008) The Children’s Museum of the Arts’ fourth annual art auction and exhibition titled “Change of Art: Past, Present, Future” will include donations from artists including Andy Warhol, David Salle, Sol LeWitt, Kenneth Noland, Hunt Slonem, Paula Scher, Bill Jacklin and Olaf Breuning. The charitable event to support art education will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Phillips de Pury & Company, 450 West 15th Street in New York City’s Chelsea art district. All proceeds from this art auction directly support CMA’s arts educational outreach in the community to bring quality arts programming to ALL children and their families regardless of social and economic status. The event will feature a special exhibition, divided into three distinct areas with a curatorial look and feel for each time segment, to celebrate CMA’s 20th Anniversary. Past – Founded in a SoHo loft in 1988, the exhibition will feature a downtown 1980s art theme with photos, articles, and original works by children never-before-seen by the public. Present – Currently located in SoHo, the exhibition will represent CMA today with displays of works of art from sculpture to new media. Future – CMA plans to move to TriBeCa in 2010 and reach approximately 80,000 people annually in its new home. This area will present the vision and future of CMA including blueprints and plans for CMA’s new home. Please contact CMA for more information and to receive the most up-to-date information on which artists and what type of artwork has been donated in support of CMA’s mission: to celebrate the visual and performing artist in every child through teaching, creating, collecting, and exhibiting children's art. ••• Listings: Children’s Museum of the Arts (CMA) announces its fourth annual art auction, "Change of Art: Past, Present, Future” on October 20, 2008 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Phillips de Pury & Company, 450 West 15th Street.
