Looking to meet some new moms in downtown NYC

My husband and I just had our first baby 2 weeks ago and I am looking to connect with new moms like myself. We live in Greenwich Village on Astor Place and I am looking to meet someone close by for walks, coffee, shopping, and conversation. My husband does not want me to get into a cab with our son but we do have a car- just seems like so much of a hassle to take out of the garage to visit one of the new mom groups that seem to be only on the Upper East Side. I taught 4th grade at a private NYC elementary school before having my son and am now a "stay at home" mom. Look forward to hearing from you! Michelle
