LOOKING TO MAKE SOME EXTRA $$?
A freelance journalist on the UWS is looking for some people she can call on a fairly regular basis to transcribe her interview tapes. Candidates must be highly organized, responsible, and respect confidentiality. Strong typing skills are essential, and candidates must have proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines (as she¹ll need transcriptions done within 24 hours, 48 hours at most.) The job is ideal for stay-at-home moms who want to earn some extra money while their babies sleep. (NOTE: BABIES MUST BE AT THE STAGE WHERE THEY ARE ALREADY CONSISTENTLY SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE FOR OBVIOUS REASONS.) Candidates must also be able to work from their own home computer and have Internet access, as transcriptions will need to be emailed over as soon as they¹re done. (A transcription machine/micro-cassette player will be provided but must be returned within a day of each assignment¹s completion.) Since tapes must be picked up AND dropped off at the journalist¹s home on 92nd Street and Broadway, candidates should live on the UWS. Previous experience isn¹t necessary, but 4 years college degree required. (English, journalism, communications, political science or history majors are preferred.) Great spelling isn¹t as important, but transcriptions need to be accurate, since people will be directly quoted based on what they¹ve said during these interviews. Also, since tapes to be transcribed often involve interviews with doctors and other medical experts, the ability to pay attention to detail is crucial (ie: there¹s a big difference if someone says ³apples may prevent cancer,² versus ³apples can prevent cancer,² versus ³apples prevent cancer.²) If interested, please email resume to elumiere@nyc.rr.com. She¹s willing to pay per hour of recorded audio.
